Peoria Unified approves performance pay awards for certified and administrative staff

The Peoria Unified School District Governing Board approved one-time performance pay awards for the 2015–16 school year funded through the Classroom Site Fund (commonly associated with Prop 301). The board voted 5–0 to award $2,600 to eligible certified employees and $2,050 to eligible administrative employees.
Mr. Hicks (staff member) explained that payout amounts are calculated after the state posts the Classroom Site Fund distribution (the JLBC figures were available as of March 31). He said the district and teacher leadership agreed to preserve a $2,600 award this year and use some fund balance to smooth year-to-year funding so the award would not automatically drop next year.
The district’s Classroom Site Fund consists of base pay, performance pay and menu-item allocations. Hicks noted administrative awards are funded from M&O, based on evaluations and eligibility (staff may not be on a performance improvement plan). The board moved and seconded the item and members voted 5–0 to approve the schedule and payout timing.
Board members and staff said the district will report final reconciliations and remaining balances in the Annual Financial Report (AFR).
