Council sets summer calendar: special budget adoption meeting moved to June 26, regular July meeting on July 17
Summary
After discussing the summer calendar and the need to finalize the budget before the end of June, the council agreed to hold an additional meeting on June 26 to consider budget adoption and to meet again on July 17; the June 19 meeting was canceled for Juneteenth.
The Jurupa Valley City Council on May 15 agreed to adjust its summer meeting schedule so staff can deliver revised budget materials and allow a timely vote on adoption.
City Manager Rod explained the council’s regular June calendar and noted June 19 falls on the Juneteenth holiday; staff proposed moving the budget adoption to a June 26 meeting if council needed additional time after the June 5 meeting. Council members agreed that a June 26 special meeting would provide time for staff to compile answers to outstanding budget questions and that the council would hold only one meeting in July on July 17. The council also agreed that agendas for any added meetings must be posted at least 72 hours in advance.
Council members indicated they preferred to receive revised budget documents at least two weeks before an adoption vote. The revised schedule was accepted by consensus with staff noting the June 26 meeting could be a regular meeting or an adjourned regular meeting and that staff would post agendas accordingly.
