The Planning Commission voted unanimously May 15 to forward city-initiated code amendments to City Council that update Title 19 (Land Development Code) definitions and remove local prohibitions that state law now preempts.
Planner Kendall Black presented the package of changes, which includes new or revised definitions and the removal of code language that state statute prohibits. Commissioner Hill noted the changes align local code with recent legislative actions affecting parking and housing policy and cited specific senate-bill direction discussed during the legislature; staff confirmed the amendments are intended to bring the city’s code into compliance with state requirements on tandem parking and related matters.
After no public comment and brief discussion, a commissioner moved to recommend the amendment to council; the motion passed unanimously.
Staff will forward the recommended ordinance language and supporting packet to City Council for formal legislative consideration.
