Schererville adopts final phase of water "tracker" pass-through; 21.9'cent increase per 1,000 gallons

The Schererville Town Council on May 14 adopted the final phase of a pass-through water charge authorized by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC), increasing the wholesale "water tracker" component charged by the municipal water utility.
Town staff described the change as the third and final phase of an Indiana American Water pass-through that was approved by the IURC. The increase is 21.9 cents per 1,000 gallons. Town staff said an average user would see about an $0.87 change.
Town Manager Jim Gorman and operations staff presented the item at the Waterworks Board public hearing earlier in the evening and again at the council meeting. After opening the floor for public comment and seeing none, the council approved the ordinance and subsequently adopted it by unanimous vote.
No other amendments or conditions were added during the meeting. The ordinance was read into the record and the council approved adoption by voice vote, 5-0.
