Summit County Council on May 14 adopted Proclamation 2025-04 declaring May 18–24, 2025, National Public Works Week in Summit County.
Public Works Director John Angel presented the proclamation and highlighted county public-works responsibilities including engineering, road maintenance and snow plowing, stormwater management, weed abatement, landfill operations and emergency response support. Angel told the council he and his staff work in all hours and weather conditions and said Public Works employees often receive negative feedback even though they perform essential services.
Councilmembers thanked Public Works staff and praised their professionalism and responsiveness in the field; several members said they planned public recognition and other acknowledgements for employees during the week. Councilmember Roger noted his longstanding appreciation for Public Works and commended staff for operational competence.
The council moved, seconded and unanimously adopted the proclamation on the record.
