Summit County Council on May 14 approved the Restaurant Tax Advisory Committee’s recommendation to roll $85,000 returned from the Sundance application into the county’s 2026 restaurant-tax grant pool.
Billy (committee vice chair) told the council the committee met quickly and unanimously preferred not to reallocate the $85,000 during a single, small meeting; members said they ran an orderly review process this year and would rather add the funds to next year’s grant pool given growing numbers of applications each year.
Councilmember Roger moved approval; Councilmember Megan seconded. The council approved the recommendation with no recorded opposition.
Committee members noted that the volume and size of requests to the restaurant-tax fund increased this year, and they were reluctant to distribute the returned funds without a fuller committee meeting. The funds will roll into the 2026 allocation process.
