District administrators reported that Trousdale County's enrollment is largely stable and provided several employment notifications and a construction update.
The district reported enrollment figures of 654 students at the elementary school (14 fewer than last year), 329 at the middle school (2 fewer) and 385 at the high school (11 more), for a total reported enrollment of 1,368 students (about five fewer than the same time last year). Administrators said overall enrollment has been stable.
Employment notifications in the meeting packet included hires and resignations: Courtney Haynes hired as head basketball coach; Madison McClatchy (elementary teacher); Jeanette Reese hired as middle-school custodian; Shelby Petty hired as middle-school basketball coach; David Cather resigned as head baseball coach but plans to remain with the team in an assistant/facilities role; and Mildred Harper resigned as a cook (location specified as high school in the packet). Several retirements were also noted in the packet.
On construction, the district provided an update on a project referred to in the packet as the "veil house": subgrade plumbing work was completed and more than half of the flooring had been poured; mezzanine work was poured. The board noted some concrete pours are delayed because the contractor must move crews and that a set of steps will be removed and rebuilt at the construction manager's expense.
Administrators also said the district will repurpose Chromebooks for graduating seniors who complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or an application to a postsecondary institution; the district described this as a graduation gift intended to help students who leave home for college without a device. The district said it expects state TCAP score delivery in mid-to-late May and will mail report cards after scores are integrated with grades.
