Trousdale County schools celebrate seniors, report high test completion and fall athletics commitments

School administrators told the Trousdale County Board of Education that the district is wrapping an event-heavy school year with commencement activities, testing and extracurricular signings.

High-school principal Mister McCall told the board the graduating class of 2025 includes roughly 92'93 seniors, with senior night and graduation planned at the football stadium (weather permitting). McCall described a schedule of senior events this week: senior lunch, senior day and an off-site trip to Dollywood for seniors, plus multiple field and practice events leading to graduation.

Administrators reported strong assessment participation: nearly 100% of students completed TCAP testing and the district expects state test results in mid-to-late May. The high school also administered certified nursing assistant (CNA) exams: 20 students passed and one student missed by one point and was scheduled to retake the exam. Miss McCall was credited with administering the CNA program.

Athletics and college signings were highlighted. Several students signed to play at the next level: Janae Pontay (basketball at Roanoke State), Kelly Dunn (softball at Bethel) and other student-athletes with commitments to Pellissippi (volleyball and basketball) and Roman/Roanoke State (as reported in the meeting). Coaches and administrators praised the students and families.

Elementary and middle principals described end-of-year activities including field week, a first-responders day with fire and EMS vehicles, grade-level reward days and a 'glow party' for younger students. They also noted rising costs and insurance requirements for vendors such as bounce-house providers, which limits some event options.

Board members and administrators emphasized staff and parent involvement in events and thanked PTO volunteers and community sponsors for supporting gifts and celebrations.
