The Rome Common Council on May 14 removed Ordinance 9787 from the table, adopted two amendments inserting planning-board and public-hearing dates into the ordinance text, and carried the ordinance to amend the zoning map for the Griffith Business and Technology Park development district and Table 80-14-1 (off-street vehicle and bicycle parking requirements).
City Clerk Steelig read a public-notice statement at the start of the meeting that a public hearing had been scheduled; the council later inserted specific dates into the ordinance. During the May 14 discussion the council moved to add the planning-board referral date, 04/23/2025, and to record 05/14/2025 as the date of the public hearing held that evening. Both amendments were moved and seconded and approved by voice vote; the ordinance as amended then carried.
The ordinance revises the City of Rome zoning code (chapter 80) by updating the Griffith Business and Technology Park development district map and by referencing Table 80-14-1 concerning off-street vehicle and bicycle parking requirements. The docketed amendments and the public hearing record were entered into the legislative file. There was no public testimony recorded opposing the ordinance during the hearing portion of the meeting.
The council’s action makes the amended zoning-map language effective as adopted; implementation steps such as updated printed and online zoning maps and any site-plan actions will follow established planning-board and building-department procedures.
