Nguyen said the county now has more than 911,000 registered voters and must provide a mix of vote centers and ballot drop boxes based on state rules. The office manages roughly 1,400 temporary staff during an election and up to 1,700 unique precincts and dozens of ballot styles in typical elections. Nguyen described the election production timeline — from vote‑center selection and ballot printing to signature verification and post‑election canvass — and the federal and state deadlines that drive work schedules.
The registrar said much of the delay in producing final results stems from thorough signature verification, processing of late-arriving vote‑by‑mail ballots, conditional voter registration and required post‑election canvass activities. Nguyen noted outreach and education efforts targeting early ballot return and invited board members to schedule office tours; several supervisors praised the registrar’s transparency and staff professionalism.
The board received the briefing for the record and had no action items attached to the workshop.
