County Service Area 1: Streetlight and safety service charges — The board held a public hearing on the fiscal year 2025–26 engineer’s report for County Service Area (CSA) 1, which funds maintenance and operations for safety and streetlights in unincorporated areas. Legislative position on SB 8 (Ashby): The board adopted an official support position on Senate Bill 8, which would add Sacramento County park rangers to a labor-code section that provides up to one year of tax‑free wage replacement for work‑related injuries (similar to existing provisions for other peace officers). The board’s position was approved unanimously; the county will send a letter of support.
Renaming Squaw Valley Way: The board adopted a resolution to change the street name Squaw Valley Way to River Valley Way in the Rancho Cordova community, following the statewide process set out after Assembly Bill 2022 (which designated the term “squaw” as an offensive slur). The item passed unanimously after a noticed public hearing.
Appointments and consent calendar: The board approved consent calendar items 2–47 unanimously. The board also reappointed Supervisor Patrick Kennedy as its member to the Regional Water Authority and maintained Michael Grinstead as the alternate.
