Lori Knight of workforce development said the commission was appropriated "approximately $15,000,000 for fiscal year 25 for use with the Jobs and Education for Texans or JET grant." She said the advisory board recommended awarding grants based on final evaluation scores and instructed staff to move down the applicant list for those scoring 60 points or above if additional funds become available during contracting.
The commission voted unanimously to approve the FY25 JET grant awards as recommended by the advisory board and to allow staff to move down the list for applicants scoring at least the threshold if funds become available.
On program parameters for FY26, Knight reported the advisory board recommended splitting available funding with 30% for institutions of higher education and 65% toward open‑enrollment charter schools and school districts; the board recommended retaining a minimum application request of $40,000 and keeping the minimum eligibility score at 60 percent. Staff recommended adopting those parameters and the commission unanimously approved them.
