Overton County Board approves FY26 central cafeteria budget and awards multiple mowing contracts

A community member addressed the board during public discussion and offered to pay for a full 12 months of mowing for a named athletic field to relieve the district's budget, saying she would "take that off your hands and save you some money." The speaker asked about how mowing frequency was determined; a staff member said principals determine frequency subject to contractor guidelines and that prior practice had allowed a flexible number of mowings per year.
The motion to approve the FY26 cafeteria budget and the listed mowing contract awards was made by James Klaus and seconded by Shirley Myers. The board recorded affirmative votes from members present; in the transcript the roll call shows several members saying "Yes." The motion carried.
The board also discussed bid timing and past practice about number of annual mowings; one member noted the board previously removed a fixed annual count to allow adding mowings on an as-needed basis.
