Commission staff and members repeatedly emphasized erosion controls and agent inspection because multiple projects lie within the 100-foot buffer to Long Pond and feature excavation or replacement of hardscape. Conservation Agent Mark Minton told applicants he could inspect siltation measures and asked applicants to call the office before starting work. Applicants described construction methods during their presentations, including crushed-stone bases, limited excavation depths and plans to leave some stumps in place to avoid further disturbance.
The determinations rely on the Wetlands Protection Act procedures and are conditioned to limit sediment delivery to the pond. Several applicants were instructed to contact commission staff (Laurie/Kennedy) to arrange inspections before work began.
