The Clay County Board of Commissioners voted to decline a Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) FLAP grant award during the meeting.
Staff said Federal Highways recommended the county take official action to close the award so the agency could reallocate the funds. The welfare of future competitive standing was discussed; staff relayed FHWA’s guidance that declining the current award would not reduce the county’s likelihood of obtaining future funding.
A motion to decline the FLAP grant was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. Staff said the action will allow FHWA to return the funds to the pool and award them to another community.
Commissioners did not discuss alternate projects for the funds at the meeting and did not request further action beyond declining the award.
