Euless council approves two convenience-store and fuel site plans near Highway 360 and Airport Freeway

The Euless City Council approved two commercial site plans at its May meeting for convenience stores with fuel sales: a 12,025-square-foot building with 10 fuel pumps west of State Highway 360 near East Harwood Road, and a 13,483-square-foot building with 16 pumps at the northeast corner of East Airport Freeway and Fuller Weiser Road.
Staff presented both proposals to council. For the Highway 360 site (site plan no. 24-10), planning staff said the nearly 3-acre property in the C-2 zoning district will include a convenience store, 10 fuel pumps, a drive-through restaurant suite and retail space; 78 parking spaces will be provided where 72 are required. Staff described landscaping, a proposed five-foot sidewalk in the right-of-way, and building materials including stone, brick and cementitious siding. The development services group certified the plan on March 25 and the Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously recommended approval on April 15.
Lisa Payne, presenting for staff, summarized the Highway 360 plan and the required compliance checks. The project engineer, Huisheng Giovanni of Giovanni Consulting Engineers, addressed the council and described initial interior buildout plans, saying, “As Lisa mentioned, this is gonna be a retail restaurant project with 10 fuel pumps. And we plan to develop more details on the north side of it in the future.”
Council member Paddell moved approval for the Highway 360 site plan; Mayor Pro Tem Tim Stinnifer seconded the motion and the council voted to approve the plan.
The second site plan (site plan no. 24-14) at the intersection of East Airport Freeway and Fuller Weiser Road covers roughly 1.94 acres in the C-2 zoning district. Staff said it will include a convenience store, 16 fuel pumps, a counter-service restaurant, a laundromat and two suites for retail or office; 80 parking spaces are proposed where 70 are required. The plan includes a 5-foot sidewalk on both street fronts, masonry dumpster enclosure, a landscape plan proposing 29 canopy trees and extensive groundcover, and building materials of brick, stone and cast stone. Staff noted the building is one story and generally complies with the city’s code of ordinances; the development services group certified the request on March 25 and Planning and Zoning recommended unanimous approval on April 15.
Mayor Pro Tem Stinnifer moved to approve the Airport Freeway site plan; Council member Eddie Price seconded the motion and the council approved the project.
Both approvals were presented as staff-certified, Planning and Zoning–recommended site plans and drew no public opposition during the meeting. The council welcomed the applicants to Euless following the votes.
