Victoria elections administrator certifies May 3 results; Crocker re-elected mayor

Marjetta Hill, Victoria County Elections Administrator, presented and certified the results of the May 3 joint election for the City of Victoria mayoral contest and a local proposition.
Hill read the vote totals for mayor: Duane Crocker, 2,779 votes; Jacob Salceda, 658 votes; for a total of 3,437 ballots cast in the race. Hill also reported 151 undervotes — ballots in which no candidate for mayor was selected. "I, Marjetta Hill, Victoria County Elections Administrator, do hereby certify that the above is true and correct of the votes that were cast on 05/03/2025," she said.
Hill advised council members that the general-election canvass will be recorded in the minutes and that the council must pass a separate ordinance to canvass returns from the venue-tax special election so those results can be submitted to the state for review. Certificates of election were presented to successful candidates; the mayor noted that certificates would be signed later in the evening.
No formal council action was required to receive Hill’s certification during the presentation. Council members accepted the certification and proceeded to business items on the agenda.
