The North Ogden Redevelopment Agency (RDA) approved its tentative FY2025‑26 budget and voted unanimously to include a $24,000 Placer AI subscription to provide location analytics for retail attraction, event analysis and park use measurement.
Scott (staff) introduced the Placer AI proposal and said the software would provide geofenced visitation data, retail leakage analysis and event utilization metrics the RDA and city staff could use to market space and plan events. Placer AI representative Chris described use cases: daily leakage reports to show where customers currently shop, event and parade attendance analysis, park and trail usage counts, and transportation/planning insights that can help prioritize capital work.
Proponents said the data could help the city make evidence‑based pitches to retailers and better schedule and size city events. One resident who spoke during the RDA public hearing questioned the need for the software but other board members cited examples from nearby cities using similar tools. The RDA board voted unanimously to adopt Ordinance 2025‑O7 adopting the tentative RDA budget and to include the $24,000 Placer AI expenditure. Staff said the RDA will track return‑on‑investment and provide periodic updates to the board.
The expenditure is funded from RDA/CDA funds; the RDA board directed staff to report back on operational use and measurable outcomes from the subscription.
