Council selects Measure O/homeless funding, ambulance contract and emergency coordination as countywide priorities

The Santa Rosa City Council voted unanimously to nominate three priority topics for the Sonoma County Mayors & Councilmembers Association: transparency and coordination of Measure O/homeless services funding; clarity and comparative oversight of the ground ambulance contract and related costs; and improved coordination of countywide emergency services and disaster readiness.
Mayor Stapp explained the countywide mayors’ group is compiling a short list of shared priorities for joint advocacy with the county. Councilmembers suggested topics during the meeting and then made a formal motion to prioritize the three items above. Councilmember McDonald stressed the need for a fair share of ambulance contract revenue given Santa Rosa’s large share of EOA‑1 call volume; Councilmember Krupke asked for more digestible ambulance compliance reports for legislative oversight.
The council asked city staff to present the chosen priorities at the Mayors & Councilmembers Association special meeting and to support coordinated work with the county. The motion passed unanimously and the list will be carried forward for county‑level discussion and potential joint action.
