The City Council voted unanimously to expand the Talbot Memorial residential permit parking (RPP) zone to include the 100 block of Sodiohmi Street after receiving a verified petition from area residents. The expansion replaces the existing two‑hour time‑limited signs with permit parking for residents and maintains the two‑hour limits for non‑permit holders.
Chad Hedge, Parking Division manager, explained the street previously had two‑hour restrictions intended to address hospital spillover. With the hospital garage completed, nearby residents still face turnover and limited on‑site parking; the petition met the city’s verification requirements. Hedge said signs and notifications have been posted to inform residents of the change.
Councilmember Benuelos moved approval and Councilmember Fleming seconded. The roll call vote was recorded as unanimous: Rogers, O'Krepski, McDonald, Fleming, Benuelos, Vice Mayor Alvarez and Mayor Mark Stapp voted yes.
The council directed staff to implement the signage and permit administration; the RPP expansion takes effect with the standard implementation timeline for sign installation and permit issuance. The resolution was adopted by the council and staff will publish the updated RPP zone map and permit application details on the city website.
