Votes at a glance: council approves multiple contracts, appointments and budget items

The Paradise Town Council took a series of formal actions at its May meeting. Below are the motions, movers and outcomes recorded on the public record.

- Consent calendar: Motion by Cullerton, second by Bolan; roll-call vote approved (Councilmembers present: Bolan, Cullerton, Lang; Councilmember Lisonbee absent; Mayor Crowder voted aye). Outcome: passed.

- Planning-commission appointments (Item 6a): Motion to concur with the planning commission interview committee to appoint Kate Anderson to a four-year term and Sean Shingler to fill an existing vacancy (approximate two-year term). - Abandonment of public utility easement on Diodora Way (Resolution 2025-32, Item 6f): An application by property owners Roger and Brenda Green to vacate a 12-foot public utility easement on two parcels received confirming utility responses; council approved the abandonment. Motion passed by roll-call vote. Outcome: easement abandonment approved.

- General Plan update RFP (Item 6d): Motion to release a request for proposals to update the 1994 Town of Paradise General Plan (five remaining mandatory elements, accompanying environmental review and subsequent zoning updates). Staff noted roughly $2.45 million has been reserved for the update and estimated costs of $1.5–2.0 million. Motion to release the RFP and proceed to contract award in August was passed. - Acceptance of actuarial GASB 75 report on retiree health benefits (Item 6i): Following a presentation by an actuary (Roger, virtual), council accepted and filed the actuarial evaluation required under GASB 75, which showed an increase in the town’s net OPEB liability and a higher actuarially determined contribution following recent bargaining changes. Motion to accept and file the report passed by roll-call vote. Outcome: report accepted and filed.
