Council amends multiuse path and park access-road ordinances, approves budget adjustments

US 74 Multiuse Path and South Fork Crooked Creek Greenway Council approved an amended ordinance and budget amendment that corrects previously approved funding amounts for the US-74 multiuse path and the Crooked Creek greenway segments. Staff said the change corrected an earlier mathematical error in an ordinance line that had inadvertently inflated a figure. The project remains funded in large part by CRTPO and other federal or regional sources; the town's local share was described in the meeting packet and staff noted the amendment is largely an accounting correction to close out the project and keep the grant funding intact.
Chestnut Square Park access road Council approved a budget amendment to transfer funds and moved a consent-agenda line item to a later agenda slot for further discussion before finalizing details of the Chestnut Park access road. The manager and public-works staff said the funding will be used to design the road and position the project to use previously allocated grant funds related to the Shady Bluff project.
Staff noted that CRTPO or other regional partners will reimburse most project costs, and that stopping or delaying the project would jeopardize federal reimbursement. Council members requested updates about the path and access-road segments at a future meeting.
