Under the official canvas read into the record, Vanessa Pacheco was declared elected trustee for Single‑Member District 2 after receiving 2,713 votes (50.09%). Pamela Hughes received 2,339 votes (43.19%) and Elaine Bonavita received 364 votes (6.72%). Regina Harris, who ran unopposed in Single‑Member District 4, received 503 votes (100%). Rachel McGowan was declared elected trustee for Single‑Member District 5 after receiving 3,075 votes (87.36%); Christina Neria received 445 votes (12.64%). The board cited Texas Election Code section 2.051 in declaring the results.
Chris Poteet, president of the Richardson ISD Board of Trustees, opened the telephonic meeting and noted that two trustees constituted a quorum for the purposes of canvassing the election. The board then moved to adopt the resolution canvassing the returns and declaring the results of the May 3, 2025 election.
Rachel McGowan, who moved the motion to adopt the canvas and was later declared elected trustee for District 5, said, “No, I just, well, yes, I'd like to thank all of the voters in my district, which was District 5. Our Lake Highlands community came out and I appreciate them just coming out and spending time in the polls and getting their votes in. And I look forward to serving our school district another 3 years. Thank you all so much.” Chris Poteet seconded the motion.
The board voted by raised hands; the motion passed 2‑0. No public commenters had registered to speak during the meeting’s public comment period. The meeting record reflects the board’s January 16, 2025 order calling the general election and the board’s use of the statutory canvass procedure under the Texas Election Code.
The resolution completes the formal canvass of the May 3 election for the named single‑member seats. No further actions, directives to staff, or contested post‑canvass procedures were recorded during the meeting.
