Resident requests speed humps on Parkview Drive; city engineer to install stop signs

During public comment at the Lake Elsinore City Council meeting, resident Susan Ferguson urged the city to address speeding on Parkview Drive, asking whether the city could install speed humps or other traffic-calming measures to protect children and pedestrians.
"We're all guilty of speeding at times, but there's lots of children, parents, a lot of people park on the street," Ferguson said, describing recent vehicle accidents and overturns on the street. She said she had asked City Works about speed bumps and was told traditional speed bumps were not allowed because of fire engines and ambulances, but that a lower-profile speed hump used in other jurisdictions (about 4 inches tall) had been successful.
Ferguson said she serves on her HOA board and that City Engineer Cameron Adams had inspected Parkview Drive after her request. Adams told the meeting he has stop signs in the works and expected installation within about two weeks. "He came down and cruised the street, checked out the neighborhood, and he has in the works, which hopefully will be installed in the next two weeks," Ferguson said, paraphrasing the engineer's response.
Public Works staff also encouraged residents to report concerns through the city's Alert LE app, which routes service requests to crews for faster response. Council members noted enforcement options as well; Council Member Johnson said enforcement officers and motorcycle patrols could be used to address repeat speeding.
No formal council action was taken; staff follow-up and engineering reviews were described during the public-comment and consent portions of the meeting.
