Hayward mourns utilities mechanic Mike Raybeck after fatal bicycle collision

Mayor Salinas and city staff announced at the May 13 City Council meeting that Hayward utilities maintenance mechanic Michael ("Mike") Raybeck died after a traffic collision on Depot Road on Friday.
The mayor said flags on city property were lowered in accordance with city administrative rules. City materials provided by staff said Raybeck joined Hayward on March 16, 2009, and had worked at the wastewater treatment facility. The mayor read remarks from Raybeck's supervisor describing him as skilled with technology, proud of his vehicles and active in local amateur professional wrestling under the ring name “Max Justice.”
City Manager Dr. Alvarez and other councilmembers offered condolences and said staff would provide information about memorial arrangements when available. Mayor Salinas closed the meeting in Raybeck’s memory.
