The Claremore City Council approved two ordinances to annex two tracts of land into the city and passed a resolution reaffirming the city’s continued participation in the Oklahoma Main Street program.
Staff described the annexations as two separate parcels: the “West Tract” of roughly 3.72 acres and the “East Tract” of roughly 1.922 acres. The presentation noted the properties meet the alternative contiguity definition in state law (title 11, section 21‑102) because they are separated from the city limits by a right‑of‑way or narrow intervening strip. Public notice was published twice in April as required. Staff said the owner intends to develop a mixed residential project and recommended council approval. The council voted to approve both ordinances (referred to in the meeting as ordinance 2025‑6 and ordinance 2025‑7).
The council also approved Resolution 2025‑4 supporting continued participation in the Oklahoma Main Street program, a yearly action required for program accreditation. Staff said the Main Street organization partners contractually with the city on events such as Food Truck Thursdays, Dickens on the Boulevard and other downtown activities; staff told the council a formal presentation by Main Street staff is expected at a future meeting.
Earlier in the meeting the council approved the agenda and consent items by roll call. The council authorized entering an executive session to discuss an economic development matter (a vote to go into executive session under the statutory exception was recorded), and later reported returning from executive session to the public meeting with no votes taken in executive session. The minutes show the council also made routine motions to adjourn the various municipal authorities’ meetings that preceded the council meeting.
