Jackson Community Center expansion near completion; board approves $194,603.70 pay request

The Village of Jackson board on May 13 approved pay request No. 10 (listed in documentation as application No. 11) to Moore Construction for $194,603.70 for the Jackson Community Center expansion and heard a project-status update from staff.

A staff member told trustees that the majority of construction work is scheduled to be completed by the end of the month. The update noted the parking lot, playground surface and gym floor as the largest remaining items; remaining interior work includes wallpaper installation and replacement of a single window glass pane that may require a brief return visit by the contractor. When a trustee asked about the project budget, staff said the village currently expects to remain under the total amount borrowed for the project once remaining work is complete.

Trustee Wells moved to approve the pay request and Trustee Kripke seconded; the motion carried by unanimous vote. During discussion trustees and staff identified an administrative discrepancy between the agenda item number (listed as request No. 10) and the payment documentation (labeled application No. 11); the board agreed the discrepancy was administrative and moved forward with approving the payment amount.

The approval covers a progress payment to Moore Construction tied to the community center expansion contract. The board’s action allows the contractor to be paid for the work completed to date and clears the way for final closeout steps once remaining items are finished. No public comments were recorded on the item during the meeting.

Trustees asked staff to correct the administrative numbering in the records and to continue regular project closeout reporting to the Budget and Finance Committee.
