Committee approves $25,000 appropriation for Vol State Gap Trail Phase 1B design work; unanimous

The Gallatin City Council committee unanimously approved sending Ordinance 02505-28 to the full council on May 13. The ordinance appropriates $25,000 toward design and possible construction for the Vol State Gap Trail Phase 1B multiuse path.
Jake Wilson told the committee the Phase 1B project recently received a $100,000 contribution from the adjacent multifamily development and that the requested $25,000 will supplement engineering work and possibly construction. Wilson said the project’s right-of-way is expected to be donated by the multifamily developer or the property owner and that the appropriation would help complete design and related engineering tasks.
Motion and vote A motion by Vice Mayor Hayes, seconded by Councilman Juvan, moved the ordinance forward. The committee voted unanimously to send the appropriation to council.
Next steps Staff said the appropriation would be used to complete design documents and that any remaining funds may be applied toward construction; staff also thanked the multifamily developer and the Gap distribution company for contributions and coordination.
