The Taneytown Athletic Association reported that spring baseball play is underway with 289 registered participants across T-ball and age-based teams, and representatives outlined fundraising and registration plans for the rest of the year.
“Tisha Tracy Miller, representing baseball, said, ‘Spring season is underway. We have 289 registered, 6 T-ball teams, 5 8U, 3 10U, 3 12U, and then we have 2 teams up on the big field,’” Tisha told the Athletic Association meeting. She said families received two discount cards and additional cards are available for $10; the association is also planning a gun raffle in the fall (date not yet set) and will open fall registration soon. Tisha said the association will host a tournament in October, with exact age groups to be confirmed.
Other youth-sports program updates reported to the Athletic Association included lacrosse, soccer and field hockey scheduling and use of town fields through the summer. Jenny Myers said lacrosse teams will use the fields for practice until about July; Kyle Myers said soccer clinics and play days run through late May and June, and fall registration opens May 15.
There was no formal action during the Athletic Association portion of the meeting. Board members were reminded that the FY2026 municipal budget does not cut TAA allocations, and Lorena confirmed TAA funding requests remain intact for the coming fiscal year.
The Athletic Association asked teams to provide schedules for the season to aid town planning and field allocation. No formal votes were recorded in the association update portion of the meeting.
