Committee forwards Faulkner County library staffing measure to budget committee

The Faulkner County Personnel Committee voted to forward Proposed Ordinance 25-16 to the Budget and Finance Committee for consideration. The ordinance concerns staffing for the county library system, including a position to handle marketing and external communications.

Mister McGraw, speaking for the county library, thanked the committee for prior support and said the library's recent hire of a full-time employee had been helpful. He described the new or reclassified position as responsible for marketing across branches and handling external communications, including contact with newspapers and crisis communications. "Last year, you gave me an extra full time person," McGraw said. Committee members asked whether the new staff would handle marketing for all branches and communications during urgent situations; McGraw confirmed those responsibilities.

A member of the committee moved to place the ordinance on the table for discussion and later moved to forward it to Budget and Finance for fiscal review; both motions were seconded and approved by voice vote. The committee did not set specific salary figures in the meeting; Budget and Finance will review personnel and budget implications before any final hiring or reclassification.

The committee also asked about growth at a newer library branch (referred to during discussion as a recent addition) and how staffing changes would support expansion. McGraw said the branch expansion and overall communications needs were the rationale for the proposed position. The ordinance will be considered by Budget and Finance for funding and classification decisions.
