Superintendent says NEASC decennial visit went well; district to post middle-school principal vacancy

Superintendent Dr. Salido told the Burrillville School Committee on May 13 that the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) decennial accreditation visit took place the previous week and went "very well," and that the visiting committee will submit a follow-up report with findings, commendations and recommendations.
Dr. Salido described the NEASC visit as a three-day, intensive review during which the visiting team met with students, teachers, parents, school committee members and administrators. He said the visiting committee provided informal faculty feedback and that the district does not anticipate major findings. The formal report will be submitted to the NEASC steering committee and released publicly when available; Dr. Salido said a two-year follow-up and other periodic reporting are part of the 10-year accreditation cycle.
Separately, the committee accepted the resignation of Burrillville Middle School principal Catherine Lord, effective June 30, 2025. Dr. Salido said the position will be posted publicly the following day and that the district hopes for a strong applicant pool. The committee also heard that interviews for a Callahan principal search were underway at central office, with multiple candidates advancing to a second stage.
Dr. Salido said the district will present the NEASC committee—s written report publicly at a future school-committee meeting when it is available.
