Summary
Commission members reported that three music-therapy workshops are being scheduled for mid-July to early August, with possible continuation into the school year pending demand and response from the community.
Anne Marie Fiore, a member of the Revere Commission on Disabilities, said the commission has been working to finalize dates for three music-therapy workshops that are expected to run mid-July through early August, with the possibility of beginning regular therapy classes in September based on demand.
"Finally, some light at the end of the tunnel," Fiore said, describing ongoing coordination with the parks and recreation department and other partners. She told commissioners the workshops are intended to gauge community interest; if uptake is strong, the program could transition to regular therapy classes during the school year.
Commissioners discussed outreach and promotion. Staff from Revere Parks and Recreation will help create and distribute a flyer and assist with registration logistics. The commission plans to advertise through the city website, the mayor’s communications office and the commission’s Facebook page. No formal funding allocation or contract was recorded at the meeting; commissioners said they will evaluate demand from the workshops before scheduling ongoing therapy services.
