BHGS continues Connect rollout; ERC/HTI renewals and enforcement forms next
Summary
The bureau reported Connect improvements — online contact updates, DBA edits, insurance uploads, and the mandated interstate application — and said ear/hefty renewals, automated notifications and an online complaint form are next priorities.

The bureau updated the advisory council on May 8 about continued development of Connect, the department-wide licensing and case-management platform.
Claire Goldstein, deputy chief, said recent Connect milestones include the ability for licensees to change contact information and add or remove DBAs, streamlined correction notices, the legislatively mandated interstate (interstate-only) household mover application launched in January, and the migration of transfer-application improvements into the general application.
Licensing staff reported the system now accepts uploaded insurance and bond certificates directly through licensee dashboards and that automatic notifications for impending insurance lapses and license-at-risk suspensions are being tested, with a mid-May target for insurance notifications and a summer 2025 target for automated quarterly-report notices.
The bureau also announced it will begin using the online Connect complaint form for enforcement intake once the enforcement workflow is completed. Chris Sanchez, the bureau’s newly hired Connect development analyst, is leading prototype work for ear and hefty renewals; bureau staff said those features will require entering into a vendor contract separate from the household movers joint contract used earlier.
Council members raised outstanding display and record cleanup issues. The bureau said universal removal of nonactive permits is not available as a single batch change; staff will resolve cases individually on request and have changed the status text for transferred permits to read “transfer of permit” to reduce consumer confusion when search results show both an old and current record.
