The Weston County school board voted to approve multiple personnel and policy items during its meeting, carrying several motions by voice vote.
The board approved Policy GCBA‑E5 (Exhibit 5), a school‑counselor salary schedule intended to create a pay bridge between staff on the teacher salary schedule and counselors who hold full counseling licensure. "So there's actually 3 different ways in which we have counselors in our district," a staff member explaining the policy told the board, saying the exhibit 5 schedule creates flexibility for counselors who are neither on the teacher pay scale nor fully licensed to practice independently.
The board also voted to move the middle‑school girls wrestling season to the same season as the boys to avoid forcing student‑athletes to choose between basketball and wrestling. "This will put the girls in the same situation where they can experience both basketball and wrestling and not have to make that decision," a district administrator said before the board approved the change.
Separately, the board approved multiple certified transfers: Nick Gray (from first grade to third grade), Yolanda Menoz (from second grade to fifth grade), Devin Dickey (from fourth to third grade), Amber Murphy (from Title I reading teacher to Title I reading and elementary ELA instructional facilitator), and Susie Lacroix (from ELL coordinator/preschool liaison to ELL coordinator and Title I math position). The board also approved posting for a special‑education paraprofessional and accepted the classified resignation of Christina Rushton, granting permission to post the vacant classified position.
Board members who spoke briefly acknowledged transfers can be difficult for staff and families; one board member thanked colleagues for their thoughtfulness in making the assignments. All motions listed above were moved, seconded, and carried by voice vote with no roll‑call tallies recorded in the transcript.
