Middletown swears in new police officer Gianna Zanino

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. — The Middletown Township Board of Supervisors ceremonially swore in Officer Gianna Zanino at the May 12 meeting.
Chief Joseph Bottarello introduced Zanino, noting she grew up in Levittown and graduated with honors from Cairn University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in 2024. Zanino told the board she began the Temple University Police Academy in Ambler the week before the meeting and expected to graduate from the academy in six months. Zanino repeated the oath of office on the dais: “I, Gianna Zanino, solemnly swear to support, obey and defend the Constitution of the United States, the Constitution and laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the ordinances of Middletown Township, with duty, honor and fidelity.”
The chief and board members congratulated Officer Zanino; the board did not take a vote related to the swearing‑in, which is a ceremonial step preceding completion of academy training.
