At-a-glance: proclamations and permits approved by Washoe County commissioners May 13

The Washoe County Board of County Commissioners recorded the following formal actions during its May 13 meeting. Most proclamations and the outdoor-event permit were approved by voice vote as noted.

- International Internal Audit Awareness Month (May): Proclamation adopted by voice vote; board members recognized internal audit staff and presented the proclamation in the chambers.

- Peace Officers Memorial Day and National Police Week (May 14 and week of May 11–17): Proclamation adopted by voice vote; representatives of the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office joined the board and spoke briefly.

- Treatment Court Month (May): Proclamation adopted by voice vote; multiple judges and court administrators attended and described the county’s treatment courts.

- Spanish Springs Library Day (May 18): Proclamation adopted by voice vote; library staff and community members accepted the proclamation and described 20th-anniversary events scheduled May 18.

- Outdoor festival / fireworks license (Red, White & Tahoe Blue): Board approved an outdoor festival business license to allow a July 4 fireworks barge show off Incline Village Beach (APN 120-728-01). The commission voted to approve the license; no public opposition was recorded and the item carried on the board’s voice vote (recorded as 4–0 in the meeting minutes because one commissioner was absent for part of the roll call).

Consent items and a block vote of routine items were also adopted by the board during the meeting; the consent and block packages included multiple administrative and routine approvals (see official minutes and consent agenda for the full list of items approved).

No ordinance adoptions or tax levies were finalized on May 13—the board held first readings and scheduled second-reading public hearings for certain ordinances and district-24 groundwater remediation items to be considered at later meetings.
