Adams County begins budget discussions amid federal funding uncertainty, commissioners say

Commissioner Henson told the board on May 13 that Adams County will begin its budget conversations the following Monday in a joint meeting with the board and the county’s executive leadership team.
Henson said federal budget uncertainty — including potential changes to Medicaid and pass‑through programs such as SNAP — could affect county human services funding and urged patience while county staff examine contingency plans. “There are a lot of unknowns right now with coming, the news coming out of Washington,” Henson said, and the county will provide updates as federal decisions become clearer.
Henson also offered community‑oriented remarks, congratulating mothers on Mother’s Day and local graduates. No formal board action was taken on budget items at the meeting; staff said budget work will continue and the board will receive updates as numbers become available.
