The Plan Commission unanimously approved a conditional use permit to allow an outdoor seating area for Pipsqueak Wine, located at 6410 West North Avenue. The proposed outdoor space will be on the adjacent property to the east and include a pergola, tables and chairs, and new landscaping.
City planning staff said the Common Council public hearing on April 22 included the applicant and the property owner speaking in favor; no one spoke in opposition. Applicant Jonathan Bleckman (who provided a name and address for the record) said he had been coordinating with the property owner and working on landscaping plans: “Im just continuing to work with Joe mostly on landscaping ideas ... Got a bunch of seeds started for the ... raised beds, and, pretty excited for the summer.”
Commissioners and alder members spoke in support, noting the project would improve the corner and add small-business activity to the corridor. One nearby business owner, Devin Eichler of Crafty Cow, spoke in favor during the hearing.
Alder First moved approval and Commissioner Verrett seconded; the motion passed unanimously. The commission noted the item will return to the Common Council on May 20 for final consideration.
