Collierville resident urges library expansion, citing overcrowded children’s space and study-room shortages

A Collierville resident and local tutor told the Board of Mayor and Aldermen that the town library needs more space, updated furniture and additional study rooms to serve families, seniors and small-business users.
Inara Panjwani, a Collierville resident and local tutoring business owner, told the Board of Mayor and Aldermen on May 12 that she strongly supports the Collierville Library expansion planned by the town.
PanJwani identified herself as living at 4645 Ashland Circle East and said she uses the library daily for work and for tutoring sessions. “I use our town’s library almost every single day,” she said. She described frequent crowding in the children’s area, worn furniture and a lack of study rooms and conference space, and said those issues limit the library’s usefulness for families, seniors and small-business owners who rely on the facility.
“As a mother, I’ve seen firsthand how small and crowded the children’s section can become,” Panjwani said. She asked the board to consider the needs of “children, parents, students, educators, seniors, and small business owners” when deciding on the expansion.
The board acknowledged her remarks during the public-comment portion of the meeting but took no action at that time; the expansion project was listed elsewhere on the agenda packet materials rather than being decided at the May 12 meeting.
