Shelby County Commissioner David Bradford presented three Milton Community Enhancement Grant checks to Collierville departments at the Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting on May 12, 2025. The presentations, made during the meeting’s opening business, were for Collierville’s parks, fire and police departments.
Bradford, introduced by Town staff, said the awards were intended to return grant funds to local projects. He handed checks to department representatives in the council chamber and said the police award would be administered through the Collierville Citizens Police Association. Bradford added, “The real check is in the mail.”
According to Bradford’s remarks during the presentation, the three checks were for $7,500, $15,000 and $15,000; he identified the largest awards as going to the fire department and to the police department, and said the police funding goes through the Citizens Police Association. Town staff and the commissioner did not provide a consolidated total on the meeting record.
The mayor and board thanked Commissioner Bradford for the grants and for his ongoing support of town departments. Town staff did not provide additional detail at the meeting about the specific projects the parks or fire department funds will support beyond the police traffic-signal-related equipment noted earlier on the agenda packet.
The presentations were brief and were followed by the scheduled citizen comment period.
