At its meeting the Lennox City Council recorded multiple formal actions. Key outcomes
- Agenda and consent items: The council approved the meeting agenda (voice vote) and then approved the consent agenda by roll call. Roll call for the consent agenda recorded votes of "Aye" from Lauer, Squier, Welch, Drill, Lowers and Doherty; the mayor declared the motion carried.
- Ordinance 658 (noise restrictions): The council approved the first reading of Ordinance 658 (noise restrictions). The motion carried by voice vote; a second reading will be scheduled.
- Ordinance 6 60 20 24 (supplemental appropriations): Council approved the final reading of the supplemental-appropriations ordinance to reconcile last year’s budget with actual spending. The motion carried on voice vote.
- Ash Tree Removal Project (Change Order No. 1 and final pay): Staff reported an original contract price just under $59,000 and a final contract just over $59,000; the change-order net impact was a quantity adjustment of 320 (units/quantity adjustment). The council approved Change Order No. 1 and then approved the final pay application. The final-pay roll call recorded "Aye" votes from Sweare, Welch, Doherty, Tizzee, Peterson and Vandrill; the motion carried.
- Appointments and organizational votes: The council administered the oath to Ward 3 Alderman Laura Tizzee and appointed Rob Peterson as Ward 1 Alderman. Council elected Chad Sweare president of the council and Bill Doherty vice president. The council appointed Brett Larrvin as city attorney and designated Southwell Engineers as city engineer. The Lenox Independent was named the official newspaper of record. The mayor’s committee assignments were approved.
- SMGA advisory board: The council appointed Nate as Lennox’s representative to the Sioux Metro Growth Alliance (SMGA) membership advisory board.
Several items were discussed but not acted on, including a proposed master park-plan work order and a possible property acquisition at 610 South Garfield. Those matters were left for further staff follow-up and future council discussion.
