Board proclaims National School Nurse Day, Teacher Appreciation Week; consent agenda approved

The North Bend School District Board of Directors approved its consent agenda and passed two proclamatory resolutions recognizing school staff during its May 1 meeting.

The consent agenda was approved by voice vote with board members present voting “aye.” The board then approved a resolution recognizing National School Nurse Day and another proclaiming Teacher Appreciation Week for May 2025. District materials presented the nurse resolution as a formal recognition of school nurses’ role in student health; the teacher appreciation resolution recognized the district’s 122 certificated employees and urged the community to express appreciation.

Both resolutions were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote; the board recorded the votes as unanimous among members present. The meeting packet included the full text of both resolutions and the board scheduled implementation steps and community outreach tied to each observance.

Board members and staff used the observances to thank classified and certified staff. One board member noted the coincidence of the contract action on International Workers’ Day and the board’s opportunity to recognize the work of employees.
