Town approves professional services agreement for Queen Oaks Basin study

The Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted Monday to approve a professional services agreement with SSR to complete a hydrology and hydraulic study of the Queen Oaks basin, a primary north–south lateral in eastern Collierville.
Town engineer Dale Perryman said the Queen Oaks lateral is about 13,200 feet long and covers roughly 4.13 square miles. The scope includes surveying, six months of rainfall data collection to calibrate a hydraulic model, hydrology and hydraulic analysis for multiple storm events (2-, 5-, 10-, 25-, 50- and 100-year storms) and a final report with water-surface elevations and flood maps for existing conditions.
Perryman told the board the model will allow the town and private developers to test proposed drainage projects’ downstream effects and update the town’s GIS. He said the work was funded in the FY 2024–25 budget and that SSR was selected after a qualifications-based solicitation.
The board approved the agreement on the roll-call vote. Perryman said this will be the second of nine major basins the town plans to map and model; Sanders Creek was done last year.
