Taneytown Police report 479 dispatched calls in April; new officer Zach Myers hired

The report showed 479 dispatched calls for service in April, 77 total citations issued and 236 warnings. The department recorded seven adult arrests and two juvenile arrests for the month, the report said.
The department also reported a new hire: Zach Myers was hired April 21 and will be going through field training. The department said staff conducted community and training activities in April, including a child safety-seat event in partnership with State Farm Insurance and participation in an American Legion family event.
Department training included a two-hour use-of-force course, two hours of de-escalation strategies and a one-hour cultural awareness overview for all active officers. Sergeant Salt and PFC Darby completed a Red Dot Sight Handgun Instructor Course April 7–9 in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. Several officers completed annual firearms and less-lethal qualifications on April 10, the report said.
