The Rocky Mount City Council approved a contract amendment with Allred Mechanical Services to replace the Imperial Center’s chillers and to rent a temporary chiller system while replacement units are installed.
The council also adopted a budget ordinance amendment that transfers $340,000 from the council’s reserve in the general fund for fiscal year 2025 to cover chiller rental costs and appropriates approximately $669,500 from financing proceeds to cover the equipment purchase.
Councilman Daltridge moved to approve the contract amendment and the budget ordinance amendment and to authorize the mayor and city clerk to execute the documents on behalf of the city; Councilman Knight seconded. The motion passed by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
Staff did not present additional technical details at the council meeting; implementation will be handled by the city’s facilities and purchasing staff under the terms of the contract amendment.
