County board committee adopts sustainable design standards to support Climate Action 2050

Grant Helle, director of the Office of Sustainability, told the committee the standards focus on energy efficiency, emissions and pollution control, and climate resilience for county building projects. Helle described a two-tier system: tier 2 projects must meet mandatory requirements in the three priority areas; tier 1 projects must meet the mandatory requirements plus additional “better practice” strategies.
