The Pickens County Board of Education approved its meeting agenda and a consent agenda after Chief Financial Officer Amy Smith presented the district's monthly financial report and audit timeline.

Smith told the board that general fund revenue collected through April was 83.4% of the budgeted amount and general fund expenditures were 67.22% of the approved budget. She reported capital outlay revenue for April of $757,242.50 and said the district had collected $2,049,415.07 in GSFIC funds for phase one of the high school project. The district earned $781.57 in interest during the month and posted general-fund expenditures of $619,301.79; the meeting transcript lists a month-end general fund balance of $11,490,189.96.

Smith described special revenue funds as having collected 75.83% of budgeted revenue and expended 78.17% of the approved budget; she noted those funds operate on a reimbursement cycle that can delay recorded transfers by about three weeks. She told the board the FY 2024 audit was under second review by state officials, that the district expects an exit interview soon and that board members would receive an electronic copy of the audit in roughly four weeks.

On procedure, the board approved the meeting agenda early in the session after a voice motion and second; later the board approved a consent agenda that included financial reports, out-of-state overnight travel requests, minutes from prior meetings and surplus listings for CTAE, media center and warehouse items. The meeting record shows motions and voice votes for both actions but does not record the names of the members who moved or seconded those motions.

Smith also reported the district has no debt and summarized capital and special-revenue activity as part of the district's strategic-plan reporting requirement.
