Classified staff member tells board $350 one‑time payment falls short of work demands

"This $280 doesn't even cover that, let alone the transportation and the meal to enjoy at times," Hint said, referring to the approximate $280 she said remains after taxes on the $350 payment. She described classroom assistants as providing instructional support, behavioral intervention, administrative help and sometimes medical care, and said the proposed amount is out of touch with those responsibilities.
Hint also said classified staff need more training and described a missed registration deadline for a parent‑education offering that had applicants. She asked the board to consider the workers' contributions and to partner with staff to support families and training needs as negotiations continue.
Her remarks came during the meeting's public comment period and were framed as representation of classified staff priorities for upcoming bargaining.
