Adams County cites eviction defense, mediation programs and tenant resources; says mediation avoided eviction in over half of cases served

Commissioner Steve O'Dorisio said the county has invested in eviction-defense services, including partnerships with Colorado Legal Services and Colorado Law Project for mobile home communities. Matt Rivera said staff obtain court lists of individuals facing eviction, distribute a resource guide through court mailings, and operate a tenant-landlord mediation program.
Rivera said the mediation program served more than 400 people last year and that "more than 50%" of those cases resulted in outcomes that avoided eviction at no cost to the renter. Officials encouraged residents to contact the county for emergency rental assistance referrals and for mediation help.
County staff framed the approach as both preventative (mediation and resource referrals) and remedial (legal defense when eviction is filed). They said programs vary by eligibility and urged residents to contact the county for case-specific guidance.
