Adams County highlights veteran homelessness work, says veteran count at nine and outreach is ongoing

Adams County officials told callers the county is participating in Built for Zero efforts to reduce veteran homelessness and that outreach and services are available for veterans in need.
During the town hall, Matt Rivera, head of Community Safety and Well‑Being, said Adams County’s active case count for veterans experiencing homelessness was nine at the time of the call. Rivera described individualized outreach and said the county coordinates dedicated outreach staff and veteran service lines to connect people to housing and support.
Commissioner Julie Duran Mullica and other commissioners encouraged callers experiencing homelessness to share contact details with moderators so county outreach staff could follow up. "We are a part of the Built for Zero program, which means we are striving every day to reach functional 0 when it comes to veterans experiencing homelessness," Rivera said.
Officials cited local partnerships and Brighton Housing Authority renovations as examples of on-the-ground activity. The county offered to post veteran service contact information and a human services veteran line on adcogov.org/townhall for callers seeking assistance.
The county framed the work as ongoing: staff continue individualized outreach, maintain a list of people in need and coordinate with municipal partners and nonprofit providers to place veterans in housing when resources and capacity allow.
